Fall ministry update

Our overnight shelter continues to be at or near capacity, and recently the number coming in for meals has increased slightly. Many men are actively working, and some have moved on to find their own apartments or into our on-site transitional housing. Although small, the rooms we have available offer more privacy and flexibility. These are meant for someone who has at least a small source of income, and we charge a small fee to help with upkeep. This offers a good option for someone who is starting a job and may not have enough money for their own apartment. One man recently told us that he was unable to locate an affordable apartment, so one of the rooms we offer was helpful in his situation.

We appreciate your continued prayers and support of our daily ministry!

Join our ministry team

We currently have multiple openings for paid ministry positions. These include:

  • Service Coordinator
  • Maintenance Technician
  • Cook
  • Children's Ministry Coordinator

We see all opportunities not as jobs, but as ministry. When you join our ministry team, you are making a lasting investment in the lives of people in need—your interaction with others may have an eternal impact! Although there may be challenges, the work you do is vital. We have been contacted many times over the years by people who tell us how the Mission helped them in a time of crisis. By committing to this ministry, you are answering God's call to proclaim the gospel.

Please visit our website at limamission.org/ministry-team for complete job descriptions and an employment application, or contact us to have this information mailed to you.

Banquet upcoming

We hope you'll make plans to join us as we celebrate 116 years of ministry! Our anniversary banquet featuring Redeemed Quartet is scheduled for Friday, November 11, 6:30 P.M. at the Civic Center in Downtown Lima.

Our banquet provides a time of fellowship with our supporters and is an opportunity to raise funds in support of our daily ministry. If you've never been to one of our banquets, we hope you'll consider attending this year! Be sure to invite friends, family, or co-workers, as this is a great opportunity to introduce them to the ministry of Lima Rescue Mission.

General admission tickets are free; an offering will be taken at the end of the evening. If you're interested in reserved seating, you can sponsor a table with a gift of $250. Each table seats eight.

To request tickets or sponsor a table, visit our website at limamission.org/banquet, respond by mail, or call 419-224-6961. Please request tickets as soon as possible; we cannot guarantee availability closer to the event. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Current needs

Donating items from our needs list is a great way to make a difference in the lives of the poor and homeless, and anyone can get involved by collecting these items. The best time to bring donations to the Mission is on weekdays from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. or weekends from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Our current needs include a variety of items to be used in our daily ministry:

  • Bleach
  • Cereal
  • Quick oats, grits
  • Tea or lemonade drink mix
  • Disposable cutlery
  • Foam cups (12 oz.)
  • Napkins
  • Grocery bags

For updates to this list, and a link to items on Amazon, visit our Current Needs page. Thank you for giving!

The narrow gate

Looking around today, it's easy to see that there are in fact many people who are on the broad path to destruction—those who are going their own way, living in flagrant sin, having rejected the gospel of Jesus Christ. But what about the narrow gate? Who are the few that will find it, and are we among those few?
