About Lima Rescue Mission
What is unique about the way Lima Rescue Mission works with the homeless? We know that it can be challenging—and overwhelming—for people to finally face and begin to work through issues that they have been struggling with. Our beliefs guide us as we provide support and care to those who are facing a time of crisis. While we place an emphasis on physical care, including providing food, shelter, and clothing, we believe that true healing and recovery requires more than just physical needs being met.
Our staff have an important role as the first contact when men turn to us for help. We meet with each individual to get to know them better, and learn what has led them to seek help at the Mission. As we get to know each person, we are able to connect them to resources that will be helpful for their specific needs.
We provide a safe and caring environment for individuals as they take steps to get their life back on track. We promote independence and provide services with the understanding that they are temporary in nature. We expect to see individuals making positive changes and working toward becoming independent, and we provide support, guidance, and encouragement as they do so.
We hold to a Biblical worldview; we believe in the truth and authority of Scripture, which guides us in everything we do.
Our hope is in the gospel. Jesus Christ died for our sins—He bore the punishment that we deserved. We must repent and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. There is salvation in no one else (Acts 4:12)—no person, no worldly system can save us.
