Fall ministry update
We are thankful for the many opportunities we have to reach others with the gospel. Every day at the Mission, we provide services that are centered around the message of the cross and the hope of salvation. At Camp Roberts this summer, the morning Bible lesson was incorporated throughout the day's activities. The focus is now on our after school program where we will continue to invest in the lives of children as we teach biblical values through a variety of activities.
Although giving has been lower through most of this year, some recent larger gifts have helped cover the increased expenses that we saw during the summer months. We are thankful for everyone who has joined us to reach others in a time of need.
Men's Ministry
For the first time this year, our overnight shelter is not at capacity. Some men have been moving on while others are arriving, but there have not been as many inquiries about shelter as there were earlier this year.
Several months ago we had someone who was recovering from an alcohol addiction come to our shelter with nothing at all. During his time here he was able to find a job, and he recently moved into one of our transitional housing units. He said he likes the staff and everything here. We are thankful that his time in our overnight shelter helped provide stability while he worked through issues he was facing.
Camp Roberts
The Lord answered prayer and provided the opportunity to resume our summer camp ministry this year. We are thankful for our camp staff who served faithfully throughout this summer and provided a great time for the kids who attended. There were many who had a desire to learn more about the Bible which was encouraging to us. When asked about her time at camp, one of the children said, "It's so fun! I just want to keep learning about Jesus and God!"
Thank you all for supporting this vital ministry to children facing adversity. We encourage you to attend this year's anniversary banquet which will feature a special update about Camp Roberts.
Love kitchen delivers
On August 24th, Little Caesars Love Kitchen joined us to provide pizza for our evening meal. Everyone was grateful for the special treat. Thank you to Little Caesars for this generous gift!
Banquet upcoming
We would like to invite you to our 118th Anniversary Banquet on Friday, October 25, 2024, 6:30 P.M. at UNOH Event Center. We are looking forward to music by The Kingsmen, a well-known gospel quartet. Our ministry highlight this year will include a summary of this summer's activities at Camp Roberts as well as more information about our after school program. The banquet is an excellent opportunity to introduce others to the work of the Mission, so please consider inviting friends, neighbors, or coworkers.
General admission tickets are free; sponsored tables are available for $300. You may request tickets at limamission.org/banquet, by mail, or by calling 419-224-6961. If you are planning to attend but have not yet requested tickets, please contact us soon! We cannot guarantee ticket availability closer to the event. We hope to see you there!
