2021 Ministry update

A young man recently came to the Mission in need of a place to stay. One evening, our staff member on duty could tell that something was bothering him. The next morning, he was waiting to talk with our staff. When presented the gospel, he professed faith in Christ.

Convicted about his past, he thought he may have an outstanding warrant in another county and wanted to take care of it. We helped him get there, and he was relieved to find out that there were no warrants. He has since moved on, and we're not sure where he is now. Please pray for him!

Every day presents new opportunities to share the gospel, and this is just one example. Our purpose is to glorify God by sharing His love with people in need, and we are thankful for your support us as we continue sharing the gospel message with others.

Here is a summary of other activities taking place this year.

At the Mission

Within the past month, the number of men coming in for supper has increased, but is still below average. We are blessed by food donations from local restaurants that make it possible to provide a variety of meals.

Earlier this year, we completed renovations in our chapel. This included painting, replacing carpet, and new chairs. We also replaced carpet in other areas of the building, and we continue with various cleaning, painting, and other maintenance projects.

Camp Roberts

Despite our plans and efforts to hold summer camp this year, we were unable to do so due to a lack of staff. We began various recruitment efforts early this year, but only had two applicants, one of whom had schedule conflicts. In past years, we have had to turn applicants away because there are too many.

We would like to hire someone at least part-time to work year-round to maintain contact with children who attend camp, and dedicate time to planning activities, working on curriculum, coordinating volunteers, and recruiting and training staff for the summer. If you know anyone who may be a good fit for that position, please contact us.

As we mentioned recently, we had to replace sewer pumps and controls at Camp Roberts. This project was completed earlier this year at a cost of just over $12,000.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support of our ministry activities!
