Summer ministry update
With the return of our Camp Roberts ministry, this time of year is very active for our staff. The additional ministry taking place also results in a significant increase in expenses from May through July. We appreciate your support this summer which will help sustain us during a very active time.
Men's Ministry
Our overnight shelter remains full; some men only stay a night or two while others may be around longer. As a requirement to continue staying, men must earn points, which is achieved either by attending classes or working. We also keep up with individuals—the longer they are around, the more follow-up they will receive. We expect to see progress being made and we will identify areas that still need attention.
Camp Roberts
Although the program this year may be smaller, we are thankful to be able to resume our Camp Roberts ministry. We know that the camp has had a significant impact over the years. As our staff handed out flyers at schools this spring, some parents recalled their time at Camp Roberts and were looking forward to their children attending. We appreciate your continued prayers and support of the camp ministry throughout the summer.

Recent projects
If you have driven by the Mission in recent weeks, you may have noticed a couple of projects taking place. Both of these projects were delayed at various times, but they are now being completed at the same time.
Behind our building was a partially enclosed staircase that provides another means of egress for the back half of our building. This was a wood structure original to the building, which means it stood for over 100 years. Over the years, multiple types of siding were added. In recent years we noticed areas of concern, and after inspection it was determined that water had been getting trapped and caused damage beyond repair. The structure was demolished and a new staircase is being built in its place. This will be much more open with no siding, eliminating areas where water might build up. Thankfully we have received funding specifically designated for this project.
Across the street, our garage which was damaged beyond repair in a storm, was rebuilt by a group of volunteers. They completed the new structure quickly, and we are so thankful for their generosity in giving their time and talents to help us in this way.
Current needs
Donating items from our needs list is a great way to make a difference in the lives of the poor and homeless, and anyone can get involved by collecting these items. The best time to bring donations to the Mission is on weekdays from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. or Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Our current needs include:
- Bleach
- Rubbing alcohol
- Facial tissue
- Canned beef and chicken
- Instant coffee
Serving with us
There have been several new groups who have recently joined us to serve with our meal ministry. We appreciate all those who are serving others in a time of need! If you are interested in getting involved in hands-on ministry, please contact us. There are opportunities both for providing and serving meals. You may serve as a one-time event, occasionally as you are able, or even on a monthly basis.
