Annual ministry update

Thank you to everyone who joined us in prayer and giving last year—your partnership makes a difference! Because of you, we are able to provide continued care to those in need.

Here is an overview of statistics from 2023:

Meals provided: 13,213

Nights of shelter: 3,498

New guests: 98

Years in operation: 117

The number of meals provided increased slightly last year. This is the second year of an increase after a sharp drop in 2021. The nights of shelter provided remains steady.

Your Support
Last year, we received many donated items that are used in our daily ministry—including food, personal care, and housekeeping supplies. There was a decrease in financial support for the first time in several years, and unfortunately we finished the year with a deficit of around $13,000. We know that many people may be facing increased expenses, and understand that charitable giving is often one of the first things to be trimmed. We appreciate your prayerful consideration of support for 2024. We are thankful for the trust you have placed in our ministry, and we appreciate your faithfulness in helping us care for others.

Ongoing Commitment
When people come to the Mission, they are desperate and often destitute. For many, we are a last resort. We look forward to opportunities to provide physical care—and more importantly—a message of hope to those who are facing despair. With your support, we remain committed to upholding biblical truth, proclaiming the gospel, and serving others in Jesus' name.

Camp Roberts ministry opportunities

We currently have multiple openings for paid ministry positions with our summer day camp at Camp Roberts. We've been promoting these openings, but we need your help to reach even more people. We are happy to provide printed materials including brochures and flyers summarizing current openings. You may also direct people to our website at limamission.org/ministry-team for a list of current openings, complete job descriptions, and an employment application. Thank you for sharing this information!

Current needs

Donating items from our needs list is a great way to make a difference in the lives of the poor and homeless, and anyone can get involved by collecting these items. Our current needs include:

  • Liquid laundry soap
  • Bleach
  • Canned chicken and beef
  • Grocery bags

Light after Darkness

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ was such a dark event that physical darkness was manifest upon the earth. This fact should cause us to consider the true source of this darkness—our sin. God is holy and demands perfection, yet we have all fallen short (Rom. 3:23). Sin separates us from God and must be dealt with. It is only through the cross that we can be reconciled to God, and we who believe in Jesus are assured of our salvation because of His finished work on the cross. Read More...

Around the Mission

Recently, one of our daily classes went longer than usual as two men in attendance were asking a lot of questions. This gave our staff the opportunity to point them toward biblical truth regarding the topics being discussed. Many of the men we see either have very little understanding of theology or hold beliefs that do not align with Scripture. We are thankful for the opportunity to open God's word and share the truth especially to those who are eager to learn more.

The biblical classes and studies that take place throughout the week are another way that we go beyond physical care as we want to see lives being transformed, and we know that transformation only takes place through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Prayer partners

We are grateful for those who take time to pray for our ministry. Here are some specific requests that you can remember as you pray:

  • That the hearts of those we serve will be open to the truth as the gospel is proclaimed
  • For the health and safety of staff, volunteers, and guests
  • For continued provision for operating expenses

If you have a prayer request, please feel free to share it with us and our staff will be happy to pray for you.
