December ministry update

Recently a man stopped by with a donation and told us that he stayed at the Mission one night around 30 years ago. He recalled some of the struggles he was facing during that time including drug use and time in prison. He decided he didn't want anything to do with that lifestyle anymore, and with the help of someone he met while at the Mission he got clean and ended up working and is now retired. Even though he only stayed one night, he expressed gratitude that we were here for him when he was in need. We're always happy to hear from people who were at the Mission in the past and to find out how they are doing and what has changed in their life over the years.

Mission Notes
The number of men coming in for supper has increased recently, and our overnight shelter has been at capacity most nights. We appreciate your prayers as we work to assist everyone in the best way possible.

Celebrating 117 years of ministry

On Friday, November 3, we gathered to celebrate 117 years of ministry. Thank you to everyone who attended this year's anniversary banquet! We enjoyed the music of LeFevre Quartet, and were blessed by our time of fellowship—it was encouraging to see so many of you again this year. We appreciate all of the generous sponsors who made this year's banquet possible. In addition to a time of fellowship, the banquet is a fundraiser for our daily ministry, and we are thankful for everyone who gave generously! Our banquet is also a great opportunity to introduce people to the work of the Mission, and we appreciate everyone who invited guests this year.

Throughout our history, there have been many families who have supported us over multiple generations. We have heard from donors who started giving because their grandparents or parents gave and they know how much the ministry meant to them. We continue to hear from people who came to the Mission with their family or church to hold services when they were younger. We're thankful for all the families who have supported Lima Rescue Mission over the years; this continuity has been a tremendous blessing. We are thankful for all who have passed on the tradition of giving, ensuring that the ministry will be equipped to care for those in need for generations to come.

Current needs

Donating items from our needs list is a great way to make a difference in the lives of the poor and homeless, and anyone can get involved by collecting these items. The best time to bring donations to the Mission is on weekdays from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. or Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. A list of current needs can be found on this page.

Rejoicing in salvation

Every year around this time, we frequently hear the admonition to remember the true meaning of Christmas. How is this meaning defined? Some will say that we celebrate the birth of Jesus, yet still miss how profound that miracle really was and how it affects all people not only today but for all eternity. Continue Reading...
